Are you looking for new bedding and you’ve noticed the term “thread count” multiple times which has left you wondering about what it means and why is it important, then we are here to provide all the details that you’ll be needing.

Thread count is simply a measure that indicates the number of threads that are woven per square inch of a particular fabric. This is calculated by adding the vertical and horizontal threads which eventually makes up the weave of the fabric.

Now a days, thread count is used an indicator of how soft the fabric is and a higher thread count is associated with higher quality. However, this is partially incorrect as other factors play a greater part in determining the quality of the sheets.

On average a thread count below 200 might not feel very soft and a thread count between 250-300 will be ideal. Moreover, anything above 400 will most likely be a trap and will just increase the price.

Let’s look at some other factors that you should consider before buying your sheets.

Thread Quality

Rather than focusing on the thread count, it is better to focus on the quality of the thread being used. Example, long-staple cotton means a longer threading which makes the fabric stronger and more durable.

Weave

Weave refers to the style in which the fabric is woven. There are two types of weaves that you should consider while buying sheets: percale and sateen.

Percale weave is made with one over and one under which results in a matte and crisp result. These are also light weight and more breathable.

Sateen weave follows a four over and one under pattern or vice versa. This results in a silky and smoother texture.

Sustainability

Always make sure that the product that you are buying is made in an eco-friendly way and is approved by all the quality standards.

Design

Design and colors matters a lot, so opt for something that goes with your room and reflects your personal style. Also try something that adds character to the room and take it to whole new level.

Sweave sheets are crafted using the optimal mix of Eucalyptus Tencel Lyocell and Egyptian Cotton. They also use a single-ply percale weave, which makes these sheets super breathable, durable, moisture-wicking, and also gives them a crisp matte modern finish. Furthermore, All the products are certified "Made In Green" by Oeko-Tex®.
